A Norton Christmas Star

Northern Education Trust Norton Primary Academy was asked recently to be a part of a wonderful Christmas event being organised by Mike McGrother and the Norton Community Partnership, to bring community spirit to those in need, and deliver 10 luxury hampers to recipients nominated by the Norton Partnership. The academy represented one aspect of a ten-point Christmas Star, which covered the areas stretching from Wynyard in the North to Ingleby and Eaglescliffe/Yarm in the South, and the Western Parishes to Thornaby and Billingham.

Our wonderful children (accompanied by teachers) delivered the hampers on 9 December 2020. The children, all dressed in traditional nativity costumes, were accompanied by two musicians and singer, and they formed a singing procession as they made their way around the community, bring joy to all those who saw and heard them.

The children also took responsibility for a very special item: a candle light. This was very carefully handed to a special resident, who will light it at 6 pm on Christmas Eve. Each of the 10 lights will form symbolic star across our Borough, and at the same time, a very special installation of rainbow-coloured Christmas Trees will be lit up within North Tees Hospital. This aims to connect patients, staff and visitors to the wider community.

We are exceptionally proud of the children as they completed this special journey and would like to thank everyone involved and allowing our school to be a special part of this event.

All of Northern Education Trust's Primary Academies are rated as Good or Outstanding by Ofsted
