NET Primary And Secondary Phases Show Impressive Year On Year Success

Despite results nationally in both the primary and secondary phase remaining relatively stable over the last two years, students and staff are celebrating the tremendous improvements in results for 2019 across the 9 primary and 10 secondary academies sponsored by Northern Education Trust.

At GCSE level, the percentage of students across the Trust achieving strong passes (grade 5+) in both English and maths has improved by 17 percentage points over two years, up to 47%. The proportion of students achieving standard passes (grade 4+) in English and maths improved by 17 percentage points to 67%.

Particularly pleasing are the improvements at The Blyth Academy: English and maths grade 5+ results increased by 30 percentage points to 48%, with 4+ leaping up 32 percentage points, to 64%.

Students at both Red House and Kearsley Academies increased their English and maths results at both grade 5+ and 4+ by over 20 percentage points, with over half of all students at Kearsley academy achieving grade 5+.

Despite the fact that Thomas Hepburn Community Academy knew this would be its last set of results, everyone remained completely focused on ensuring that every student attained their highest grades possible.  As a result, the academy achieved its best results ever, with a phenomenal increase of 21 percentage points over the last two years for English and maths at grade 5+, and a 37 percentage point increase at grade 4+, with 69% of students achieving at that level, which is higher than the national average.

The Grangefield Academy has continued to increase its Progress 8 score to a tremendous 0.59, being “well above average” in the Department for Education’s rankings, and in the top 14% of all schools in England.

All of Northern Education Trust's Primary Academies are rated as Good or Outstanding by Ofsted in 2019
